The Lightning Thief follows the story of Percy Jackson, a 12-year-old boy who discovers he is a
demigod, the son of Poseidon, the Greek god of the sea. Percy’s life is turned upside down when
he learns of his divine heritage and the existence of a world where Greek gods and mythical
creatures are real.
The story begins with Percy being expelled from yet another school due to mysterious incidents.
Soon after, he is attacked by a monster and learns about his true identity. He is taken to Camp
Half-Blood, a summer camp for demigods, where he meets other children of gods and starts to
learn about his powers. However, Percy’s journey takes a dangerous turn when he is accused of
stealing Zeus’s lightning bolt, a powerful weapon that could cause a catastrophic war among the
gods.
To clear his name and prevent a divine conflict, Percy embarks on a quest with his friends
Annabeth, the daughter of Athena, and Grover, a satyr. Their journey takes them across the
United States as they face numerous challenges and mythical creatures. Along the way, Percy
learns more about his powers, his family, and the responsibilities that come with being a
demigod.
The Lightning Thief combines elements of Greek mythology with modern-day adventure,
creating an engaging and action-packed show that explores themes of identity, friendship, and
bravery.
