An Amazing Journey Through the Life Cycle of a Monarch Butterfly
Back by Popular Demand!
Enter the fascinating world of insects and experience nature from an entirely new perspective! Butterfly takes students on an extraordinary journey alongside Mari, a Monarch butterfly, as she grows from a tiny egg into a caterpillar, undergoes the remarkable transformation of metamorphosis inside her chrysalis, and finally emerges as a beautiful butterfly.
But Mari’s adventure is just beginning! Students follow her on an incredible migration toward Mexico, meeting fascinating insect companions and discovering the challenges Monarch butterflies encounter along the way.
Through Mari’s story, students explore important science concepts including the butterfly life cycle, metamorphosis, migration, habitats, predators, and the Monarch’s essential relationship with milkweed. They’ll discover why milkweed provides Monarch caterpillars with food, shelter, and an important natural defense.
And here’s where the magic really begins—GIANT PUPPETRY brings the insect world to life on stage! Students will feel as though they’ve been magically shrunk to insect size as enormous butterflies, caterpillars, plants, and other creatures surround them.
Combining science, storytelling, music, visual arts, and spectacular puppetry, Butterfly transforms an important classroom science topic into an unforgettable live theater experience.
